My son has been coming for a few months now, he absolutely loves it. They have all made him feel so welcome and part of the Family. Watching him enjoy and learn so much at each session is great. R.K Judo is his second family 👍

Our son loves going to this club for Judo sessions. The family that run RK Judo are very friendly and welcoming to new members and very good with little ones!

Everybody at R K Judo has treated our son like family since the moment he walked through their doors. The entire team (and clients!) have shown nothing but kindness and patience to our son, who initially was very shy and nervous and in the end has been laughing and joining in way more than we thought he would (as naturally he is a small shy boy!). This isn't run like a business alone, it's run like a family welcoming friends to learn and grow together, with a great mix of fun and work combined. Thank you for all you have done for our little boy, we cannot advocate you guys enough.

My son has been going for just under a year and I can safely it's the best thing that's happened to him. He is not the most sporty person and didn't have a lot of confidence but R.K. judo has brought out a side to him that I have never seen. He is unrecognisable whilst he is on the mat and this can only be down to the wonderful coaches and fellow students at the club. What you see... isn't what you always get at R.K Judo! It's not just a coincidence that most of the reviews tend to come in blocks. The club is great at promoting its self and their achievements on social media. They actively encourage members to post a review to help boost their profile. They claim not to be gong hunters but spend a great deal of time banging on about the club’s achievements (sometimes overselling). They conceal the student's highest grades so they can enter them as a lower grade in certain competitions where it ensures they get a more favourable pool of fighters. This increases their chances of success; but goes against the spirit of judo. They get parents to buy into it by telling them it's common practice. It isn't! There are some lovely people at the club, and you are made to feel as though you are part of a supportive family. Unfortunately, it’s more cult-like than family. In that, should you decide to leave to train elsewhere you instantly become persona non grata. For example, the coaches stopped speaking and blanked our 10yr-old when we left -- after having trained there for just over a year. This caused the little one much emotional distress and anxiety when attending comps –knowing the former teammates might be there. We thought we were leaving on good grounds and doing what was best for us and the club. In that, the main coach had advised us that some parents had expressed concerns around their children training with our little one. We didn't want other players to become disheartened and leave the club, or sport. Not being local, it was easier for us to find somewhere else to train. For the record the senior coaches are very knowledgeable and supportive to those they like. But things can change in a heartbeat. Fortunately, most members won't see the other side. Having spent personal time with the head coaches, we are well aware of the comments that they have made about others, including their biggest backers and their kids, so we can only imagine what is being said about us. Its clear comments have been passed by the way we are treated by other club members, which includes some of the kids. Unfortunately, we aren't the only ones to have this experience! How would any parent think it’s acceptable to blank and cause a 10year old child to be ostracized from a group they once considered to be family? In the little one's words, "All the laughs and cuddles clearly meant nothing!"

I am a 5th dan black in judo, and I have been practicing judo most of my life, competed nationally and internationally, with Rodd being one of my original instructors when I was a junior many years ago. I restarted judo last year after a 4-year hiatus due to injury and I have been able to return to active competition and have medalled, I would not have been able to achieve this without the backing and support of the club. The club has an excellent atmosphere, everyone is friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this club to anyone regardless of age or ability, I believe the club has some of the best facilities and instructors available across the Midland area.

Kaz Rodd and Ben have a wonderful club, they dedicate time and attention to each person on their mat. The impact this club has had on my daughters over the last 6 years has been amazing, helping build strong, confident, focused girls both on and off the mat. It really doesn’t matter if your looking for a fun way to get fit, wanting to improve discipline and focus or working to improve on existing judo to get to the next level, these guys will get you there. Everyone is welcomed and everyone counts. They are creating something special, we are proud to be apart of this judo family. Don’t hesitate to give the sport and club a try I can guarantee it will be different to others, their passion and dedication shines through in every session.

I have known Rodd and Kaz for almost 30 years (yes I know 😱) and I can safely say you won’t find more dedicated coaches. Their knowledge and coaching of Judo is immense, but it is more than just about judo - it is a family. All ages and abilities are welcome. Each one encouraged to get the best out of themselves and to grow. Every member and spectator gets something out of the sessions, and can transpose this into their own lives. Needless to say I highly recommend RK judo club. See you there !

I've been a member of this fantastic club since they came back from Spain in 2019. From the moment I met Rodd, Kaz and Ben, they have been extremely welcoming and supportive of my whole family. Me, as a returning 1st Kyu striving to get my Dan grade. My son, who started at 3 (hardly able to speak) who is now a thriving 5-year old with incredible motor skills and judo technique. My daughter who decided that judo wasn't for her but who was welcomed into the club to run a tuck shop and was always included. Even my wife, who has only been able to attend once, feels part of the RK family! It doesn't matter what age or stage you are at, you are guaranteed to learn something new at RK - whether that be your judo technique, or simply learning more about yourself. Rodd, Kaz and Ben are incredible coaches but, more importantly, are wonderful people who truly care about their members. I whole-heartedly recommend this club.

I absolutely love rk judo club its fantastic , great coaches . They all have helped me with competitions and have also made lots of new friends ; some even my best friends now . The atmosphere at competitions or even at the club is astonishing and even if I feel as though I could’ve done better at a competition they always help me work on what I’ve done wrong and applaude me on the good I have done . Moving to Rk judo club has been one of the greatest moves ever for me . Whatever any other reviews say trust me it is great. ❤️💙❤️💙
